From September 7th LCC will launch a new preaching series in Chronicles. The theme: “Tracing the Journey from Ruin to Restoration—God’s Faithfulness in Every Step.”

Over eight weeks in 1 & 2 Chronicles, this preaching series invites us to journey through the sacred story of a people shaped by covenant, kingship, and worship. From David’s preparation for the temple to the exile’s echo of hope, we trace God’s unwavering faithfulness through triumphs and failures alike. Each week uncovers a layer of identity, leadership, and legacy—reminding us that even in seasons of rebuilding, God’s story continues through those who seek Him wholeheartedly.

Chronicles Sermon Series: “God’s Faithful Story”

An eight‑week journey through 1 & 2 Chronicles, each message tied to a clear focus verse and practical application for contemporary life.

Week 1 – Rooted in God’s Story

Passage: 1 Chronicles 1–9

Focus Verse: 1 Chronicles 4:10

Big Idea: Even dry genealogies remind us that every believer is part of God’s unfolding plan.

  • From Adam to Israel: God’s faithfulness across generations
  • Why names and records matter—identity, legacy, and hope
  • Finding your place in the larger redemptive narrative

Application: Reflect on three “spiritual ancestors” (mentors, family, heroes) and thank God for their role in your journey.

Week 2 – When Leaders Forsake God

Passage: 1 Chronicles 10

Focus Verse: 1 Chronicles 10:13

Big Idea: Abandoning God’s guidance leads to personal and communal collapse.

  • Saul’s final battle: seeking counsel from mediums instead of the Lord
  • The destructive cost of self‑reliance in leadership
  • Contrasting God‑centred decision‑making with worldly shortcuts

Application: Perform a “decision audit”—identify recent choices made without prayer or Scripture and repent.

Week 3 – God’s Anointed on the Rise

Passage: 1 Chronicles 11–12

Focus Verse: 1 Chronicles 11:1

Big Idea: God lifts up unlikely leaders and surrounds them with a devoted community.

  • David’s humble anointing in Hebron
  • “We are your bone and flesh”: loyalty rooted in shared vision
  • Building teams today around God’s call, not credentials

Application: Spot someone with hidden gifts in your church or workplace; pray for and encourage them this week.

Week 4 – Restoring God’s Presence

Passage: 1 Chronicles 13–16

Focus Verse: 1 Chronicles 16:23

Big Idea: Heart‑right worship draws God’s presence back into our midst.

  • The failed first attempt to move the Ark vs. the successful second effort
  • Songs, sacrifices, and thanksgiving as communal glue
  • Designing personal and corporate worship rhythms for today

Application: Launch a morning “presence practice”—scripture, worship song, and prayer—and invite one friend to join.

Week 5 – Covenant Promises Fuel Generosity

Passage: 1 Chronicles 17 & 22–29

Focus Verse: 1 Chronicles 17:14

Big Idea: God’s unbreakable promises inspire visionary planning and generous giving.

  • The Davidic covenant: a kingdom established forever
  • David’s temple blueprint and resource mobilization
  • Leading by casting vision and unlocking community generosity

Application: Draft a one‑page vision for a ministry project; share it and invite others to invest prayerfully or financially.

Week 6 – Wisdom, Worship, and Wealth

Passage: 2 Chronicles 1–9

Focus Verse: 2 Chronicles 1:10

Big Idea: Prioritizing wisdom and worship unlock God’s blessing in every area of life.

  • Solomon’s choice: wisdom over riches
  • Temple construction as the worship heartbeat of the nation
  • How godly leadership yields prosperity and influence

Application: Evaluate your stewardship of time, talents, and treasure—realign all three around kingdom priorities.

Week 7 – Trusting God vs. Compromising

Passage: 2 Chronicles 14–20, 28

Focus Verse: 2 Chronicles 14:11

Big Idea: Trusting in the Lord leads to victory; alliances without Him bring defeat.

  • Asa’s prayer and breakthrough against overwhelming odds
  • Jehoshaphat’s faith‑filled stand at Tekoa
  • Ahaz’s foreign alliances and spiritual decline

Application: List your current “alliances” (media, mentors, partnerships); ask whether each draws you closer to—or away from—God.

Week 8 – Revival, Exile, and Future Hope

Passage: 2 Chronicles 29–31; 34–36

Focus Verse: 2 Chronicles 36:23

Big Idea: Repentance brings revival; compromise brings exile—but God always offers a way home.

  • Hezekiah’s temple cleansing and national renewal
  • Josiah’s reforms and the nation’s fleeting revival
  • The exile under Babylon and Cyrus’s decree of return

Application: A time of confession and commitment, celebrating both God’s mercy in revival and His faithfulness in restoration.
